Members of Peace give offerings to support the work of serving souls with the good news of Jesus both here in Sun Prairie and throughout the world. God’s word directs us in giving of what he has first given us in I Corinthians 6:1,2 and II Corinthians 9:6-15, along with other scripture passages.
Christian giving is to be done…
· Proportionally– For Old Testament Israel, God mandated a tithe, or 10%. Now after Christ, God simply tells his people to give “in proportion with their income”.
· Regularly– This helps a congregation plan and ensure that the work it carries out is consistently well-supported.
· As “Firstfruits”- God wants his people to set aside what they will give as an offering first to him first rather than giving him their “leftovers”.
· Joyfully & Freely- Christians give in thanks for all God has done and continues to do for them because they want to, not because they are obligated to.
· Generously– God promises to provide in abundance so that his people can be generous.
Guests visiting Peace may give if they so desire, but certainly need not feel obligated to do so.
